A rare 18th Century German table box with a provenance of Castletown Cox, Carrick-on-Suir was one of the ‘sleepers’  that attracted attention that left the estimate in the shadow (1,500/2000) and sold for €43,920 inclusive of fees at Fonsie Mealys house sale at the charming  Oxmantown Mall in Birr, Co. Offaly.   An fine Irish Georgian period mahogany breakfront library bookcase with a provenance of Ballynaparka House Sale, Co. Waterford achieved a fair price of €10,370 and a large Minton majolica impressive two handled urn, 19th Century sold for €19,500 inclusive of fees against an estimate to entice of €1,000/1,500.   A pleasant sale and a nice day out to very well maintain house filled with a good selection of antique silver, good Georgian and later furnishings down to the essential ‘taxidermy in the form of a large cased salmon, 34 1/2 lbs, caught on the River Tay 18 Jan 1933 by David Baird sold for €3,294.
