End of an era today (16th April) when the antique contents of Fortgranite, home of the Dennis family is sold by Fonsie Mealy.  From rocking horses to family portraits, Irish Georigan Hunting table, bookcases, wine coolers, ornate gilt mirors, militaria to an important folio, 1st ed of Birds of Australia by John Gould, to the remains of a wine cellar, and a basement filled with every spare parts from a 19th Century crumbling pile.   Four poster bed posts, Georgian bedside commodes, 19th Century child’s enameled bath, picture frames etc.  Interesting and sad in may ways the dispersal of a once busy and active home but certainly worth the view.   I’ve no doubt the auction will fair well today with a few surprises amongst the exhausting 900 lots.   Auction results to follow.

Auction on today at Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow Co. Carlow – starting at 10.30am.
